ARTICLES OF FAITH

THE HOLY BIBLE

We believe that the Holy Bible (all sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation) was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it carries truth without any admixture of errors for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true centre of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.

(Mt.5:18; I Cor.13:8-10; II Tim.3:16,17; II Pet.1:20,21)

We believe that God preserved His Word in the Traditional Masoretic Text and the Traditional Greek Text (The Textus Receptus) and we hold the King James Version of the Bible which is based on these texts, as the best English translation of the Bible.

THE TRUE GOD

We believe that there is only one true and living God; the Creator of the Universe and Mankind; Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient and eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(Gen.1:1; Isa.9:6; 43:10; Acts. 5:3,4; I Tim.1:17)

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin, and that He is both the Son of God and God, the Son.

(Gen.3:15; Isa.7:14; Mt.1:18-25; John. 10:30; 20:28)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature.

(John. 14:16,17,26; Acts. 5:3,4)

SATAN

We believe that Satan was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honours; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels; that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air; the unholy god of this world; and is destined to be cast into the lake of fire.

(Isa.14:12-15; Ezek.28:14-17; Rev.20:10)

THE CREATION

We believe in the literal account of creation as stated in the book of Genesis and repudiate the theory of evolution.

(Gen.1,2; John. 1:3; Col.1:16,17)

MAN AND SIN

We believe that man was created in innocence under the lawof his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, in consequence of which all men are now sinners, not by compulsion, but by choice; and therefore, under condemnation without defense or excuse.

(Gen.3:1-6; Rom.3:10-18,23; 5:12)

SALVATION

We believe that as sinners we are saved by grace through faith in the redeeming work of our Lord Jesus Christ and not by any good works which we have done.

(Rom.3:20-22; 4:1-8; Gal.5:4; Eph.2:8,9)

THE CHURCH

We believe that a church is a LOCAL, visible, independent, autonomous, covenanted body of baptized believers with a definite organization, ordained by Christ to fulfill the Great
Commission.

(Mt.16:18; 18:17,18; 28:18-20; Acts. 2:41,47; I Cor.12:27)

BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER

We believe that Christian baptism is the bodily immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, through the authority of the local church, to show forth a solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour Jesus Christ, portraying our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; and that it is a pre-requisite to the privileges of church membership and the Lord’s Supper.

(Acts. 2:41,42; 16:30-33)

We believe that at the Lord’s Supper the members and only the members of the local church, by the sacred use of unleavened bread and the cup containing the fruit of the vine, are to commemorate together the sacrifice for us, of Jesus Christ, His body and His blood, and preceded always by solemn self-examination.

(I Cor. 11:23-30)

(I Cor. 11:23-30)

THE ETERNAL SECURITY AND ASSURANCE OF BELIEVERS

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.

(John. 6:37- 40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; 1 Cor. 1: 4-8; 1 Pet. 1: 4-5)

THE GRACE OF GIVING

We believe that scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the faith and that believers are commanded to bring their tithes (to the church) on the first day of the week. We give with love under grace and not under the Old Testament Law.

(Mal.3:10; Mt.23:23; I Cor.16:1,2; II Cor.8:1-15; Heb.7:2,9,10)

THE ABSOLUTE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE

We believe that the Church and the State are two different institutions ordained by God for different purposes and should therefore remain separate in this present world.

(Mt.22:15-21)

CIVIL GOVERNMENT

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society, that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honoured and obeyed; except only in the things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the conscience.

(Rom.13:7; Phil.2:10,11; I Pet.2:13,14)

MARRIAGE

We believe that the Bible describes marriage as a gift from God and is to be instituted only between a man and a woman. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage. We believe that all forms of homosexuality, bisexuality, transsexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex.

(Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26: 8-9; Lev. 18: 1- 30; Rom. 1: 26-29; 1 Cor. 5: 1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4: 1-8; Heb. 13:4)

We believe that God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until death separates one spouse from the other. Although divorced or divorced and remarried persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon.

(Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7: 1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus. 1:6)

(Mal. 2:14-17; Matt. 19:3-12; Rom. 7: 1-3; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus. 1:6)

ABORTION

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, inexcusable termination of the unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or in consideration of the mental well-being of the mother, are acceptable.

(Job. 3:16; Psalms. 51:5; 139: 14-16; Isa. 44:24; 49: 1,5; Jer. 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke. 1:44)

MISSIONS

We believe that God has given the church the Great Commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that great multitudes from every nation, tribe, ethnic group and language group will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to reach these nations and not wait for them to come to us.

(Matt. 28: 19-20; Mark. 16:15: Luke 24:46-48; John. 20:21; Acts. 1: 8; 2 Cor. 5:20)

LAWSUITS BETWEEN BELIEVERS

We believe that Christians are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against other Christians or the church, to resolve personal disputes. We believe the church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members. We do believe, however, that a Christian may seek compensation from another Christian’s insurance company, as long as the claim is pursued without malice or slander.

(1 Cor. 6:1- 8; Eph. 4: 31-31)

THE GIFT OF TONGUES

We believe that the divine gift of tongues which was used primarily as a sign to the unbelieving Jews and secondarily for edification in the church in the absence of the complete Scriptures, was ceased and never to reappear when its functions expired, as can be seen in the scattering of the nation of Israel in AD 70 and in the completion of the Canon.

(I Cor.1:22; 13:8-10; 14:20-22,26,27)

THE SECOND ADVENT OF CHRIST

We believe in the “blessed hope,” of the personal, imminent return of Christ who will rapture His Church prior to the seven-year Tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel.

(Ps. 89: 3-4; Dan. 2:31-45; Zech. 14: 4-11; I Thess. 1:10; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus. 2:13; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6)

ECUMENICISM

We believe that it is unscriptural for churches of unlike faiths to cooperate with one another in the name of perpetuating the Lord’s work, as unity without doctrinal agreement would be gross disobedience in the sight of God Almighty.

(Mt.7:15; 15:8,9; Rom.16:17; Gal.1:8,9; I Tim.6:3-5)

THE MILLENNIUM

We believe that as our Lord Jesus rose bodily and visibly from the grave and ascended to heaven; to be enthroned on the right hand of the Father, He will likewise return to this earth after the Tribulation to set up a literal millennial kingdom in which He will rule as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords for a thousand years after which He will deliver up the Kingdom to the Father.

(Acts. 1:9-11; I Cor.15:24; Rev.20:4,6.)
