Today’s devotion focuses on our personal testimony of salvation. While many aspire to earn a master’s or doctorate in theology, one thing is clear: this blind man, despite lacking formal education, has a testimony powerful enough to silence the Pharisees once God saves him. I am not opposed to higher education in theology; I simply want to highlight that you don’t need to be a theologian to share the Gospel of Christ!

This chapter recounts the story of a nameless blind man and his journey from physical healing to spiritual salvation. It’s important to recognize that physical healing and salvation are distinct events. Jesus initially healed the man physically, and subsequently, his soul was saved. What happens to our bodies does not always reflect what occurs within our souls.
When someone is called to testify in court, they must share what they know about the case. Similarly, a Christian witnessing for Christ is expected to share their personal experiences with Jesus, simply recounting what Jesus has done for them. This stands as one of the most powerful expressions of faith and assurance. The blind man did not discuss theology beyond his understanding, as he had no knowledge of Jesus’ character or behaviour. Yet he was certain of one thing: he was blind, and now he could see.
The religious leaders, however, doubted and regarded Jesus as a sinner. They asked the man who had been healed how he had regained his sight, questioning Jesus’ role as a sinner. His reply was simple: “🆆🅷🅴🆃🅷🅴🆁 🅷🅴 🅱️🅴 🅰️ 🆂🅸🅽🅽🅴🆁 🅾️🆁 🅽🅾️, 🅸 🅺🅽🅾️🆆 🅽🅾️🆃: 🅾️🅽🅴 🆃🅷🅸🅽🅶 🅸 🅺🅽🅾️🆆, 🆃🅷🅰️🆃, 🆆🅷🅴🆁🅴🅰️🆂 🅸 🆆🅰️🆂 🅱️🅻🅸🅽🅳, 🅽🅾️🆆 🅸 🆂🅴🅴.” Amen! That encapsulates it all.
The Pharisees tried to change the beggar’s story. He still recognizes God’s role in his life, even under the questioning of the unbelieving Pharisees. God can turn opposition into His glory. If a cultist knocks on your door with tough questions, don’t worry. Don’t get distracted by “𝒅𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔” (𝟏 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝟔:𝟑-𝟓). Instead, simply share what Jesus has done for you when He saved you.
The Pharisees mocked him and accused him of being a disciple of Jesus, despite their claim of loyalty to Moses. The blind man noted the irony that the Pharisees did not recognize Jesus, even after He had given him sight. He clearly stated that if Jesus were not from God, He could do nothing. The spiritually blind Pharisees had no response to this and dismissed him, much like Jesus’ disciples initially did. They accused the man of being born in sin and tried to teach him. It was obvious that these Pharisees saw themselves as superior to others.
The truth is that everyone except Jesus was born into sin. All needed the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour. What’s your six-word testimony? Think about examples like: “🅸 🆆🅰️🆂 🅻🅾️🆂🆃, 🅽🅾️🆆 🅸’🅼 🅵🅾️🆄🅽🅳” or “ℌ𝔢 𝔴𝔥𝔬 𝔥𝔞𝔰 𝔍𝔢𝔰𝔲𝔰, 𝔥𝔞𝔰 𝔩𝔦𝔣𝔢.” No need for elaboration—just share it and let your changed life show the truth! Your salvation story is more than enough to proclaim to the world that JESUS SAVED!
